Introducing a CPD-accredited online course that empowers schools with effective strategies for family and parental engagement and positive behaviour support.
The subtle art of effectively communicating and supporting parents around sensitive areas such as behaviour can be fraught with pitfalls and anxiety on both sides of the table.
With our Family Engagement Training you’ll gain all the knowledge and skills you need to build that essential shared understanding of behaviour as communication, and support families with effective strategies they can use at home, so every individual receives the best possible all-round support.

- Work together with families. Our CPD-accredited virtual training equips you with the tools to help parents/carers implement effective, proven Team Teach strategies at home.
- Flexible online learning – this course will take approximately 12 hours to complete. Learn at your own pace, completing each engaging interactive module at a time that suits you alongside your other commitments. We recommend you complete the course modules within 6 weeks.
- Supportive approach. Some families struggle to support their child’s behaviour. Learn how to deliver engaging family workshops and foster stronger partnerships with families.
- Budget-friendly. The course is available for £99 + VAT per person and on successful completion, your certificate is valid for 12 months.

What This Course Will Teach You

This course will enable you to:
- understand the challenges and opportunities when working with families, including barriers to communication, negative perceptions, and ways to increase parent/carer engagement
- understand the Team Teach approach and how it can help families understand and support their child’s behaviour
- identify next steps for improving accessibility to information and consider the effectiveness of current engagement strategies for supporting children’s behaviour
- successfully facilitate family workshops with parents and carers, using My Family Coach supporting resources, underpinned by the Team Teach philosophy and approach to behaviour.
Who is Team Teach Training For?
The Family Engagement Training course is for anyone who works directly with parents and carers. This course is also suitable for senior leaders looking to develop family engagement and positive behaviour support for families at an organisational level.
We recommend that the course participants already have Team Teach Level One certification as this course builds on the Team Teach methodology. However, we understand that this may not be possible for all participants. If you do not have current Team Teach training, we recommend that you spend extra time to become familiar with the models and language used.
This is a self-guided online course allowing you to learn at your own pace from the comfort of your home or workplace. We recommend you complete all the training modules within six weeks. This includes a range of activities to support your learning and tasks to try in your own setting.

- the context of your particular setting and develop a toolkit of ideas and strategies you can use to improve communication with the families you work with
- building trusting relationships, the barriers and challenges you face, and ways you can change perceptions
- ways to diffuse conflict and create spaces for emotional conversations and how to work with parents and carers so they feel part of the decision making for their child
- ways to personalise the family workshops you deliver to meet the needs of families in your setting to help them better understand their child’s behaviour
- how to use verbal and non-verbal communication, positive listening and learning, and diversion and de-escalation strategies and share these approaches with families

How Courses Are Delivered
This training is delivered virtually allowing you to learn from the comfort of your home or workplace.
Once you have completed all the self-guided modules online, you will complete a simple quiz to check your knowledge and understanding.
Your Family Engagement Training certificate is issued to you after you have completed every module of the training and successfully passed the quiz. Your certificate is valid for 12 months.
